Exploring human stories and connections through intimate photographic encounters.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
2024- 2025
Human Lens is a photographic project in which I explore the stories, identities, and life experiences of people within the local community of A Coruña. These photographs are the result of my photographic reports: an excuse to spend time with people and share experiences that nourish us and bring us closer together. Through portraiture, I aim to capture the diversity, resilience, and cultural richness of the city, giving visibility to voices and narratives that are often overlooked.
From my approach as a documentary photographer, I practice looking outward to understand what lies within — observing the world around me to illuminate the inner lives, emotions, and connections of the people I photograph.
My initiative goes beyond traditional photography: I create spaces for dialogue, connection, and mutual understanding, fostering empathy and celebrating shared human experiences. By engaging directly with people and the community, I seek to show the transformative power of art to strengthen social ties, preserve cultural memory, and empower those I photograph to share their stories with pride and authenticity.
"My mum: Her Strength, Our Stories"
Is a photographic and narrative portrait that celebrates the resilience, courage, and enduring love of my mother. Through intimate images and shared moments, the project explores how her strength has shaped our family, guiding us and inspiring those around her. It represents the honest and heartfelt reunion between mother and son after 20 years apart. The project is both a tribute and a reflection: showing that the stories we carry are rooted in the quiet power of those who hold us up, and that her resilience continues to echo in the lives she has touched.
"Pypas: The Heart of the Neighborhood"
Pypas is a designer whose work goes beyond creating objects — he builds connections. Known for his generosity and readiness to help, he is a central figure in the community, always supporting local initiatives and fostering collaboration. Through his creativity and commitment, Pypas transforms everyday spaces into hubs of connection, making the neighborhood stronger and more vibrant with every project he touches.
"Visitors in Focus"
Captures the people who visited The Take Away Photography Cómo Vivió el Pez through intimate street portraits. Each photograph highlights their presence, curiosity, and engagement, turning fleeting visits into lasting memories. This series is a way to thank the community for their support, showing that every visitor plays a part in the life of the project. Through these portraits, I celebrate the connections, stories, and shared moments that make art a collective and meaningful experience. In August 2024, a street exhibition was held, and the participants were invited to be part of it.
"Through the Wheels"
Invites us into the world of a young car enthusiast, exploring his passion for automobiles and the joy it brings him. Through his eyes, we experience not only the machines he loves, but also the stories, emotions, and dedication that fuel his hobby. By allowing us to witness his excitement and commitment up close, this portrait celebrates how a personal passion can create connection, inspire others, and transform everyday moments into shared experiences. It is also a celebration of youth and the drive they have to pursue their dreams.
"A love supreme"
Tells the story of a talented migrant street musician devoted to his craft. Through his dedication, practice, and endless curiosity, he transforms sound into emotion, and notes into narratives. His passion for music is not just a profession, but a way of life — a language through which he expresses himself, connects with others, and inspires those around him. This portrait celebrates these figures and their daily work in bringing life and joy to the city for passersby, as well as the intimacy, discipline, and joy that come from living fully through one's art.
"Courage in Motion"
Riding Through Resilience tells the story of Christian, a cyclist whose passion for riding persists despite multiple accidents, including one that nearly cost him his life. Through his determination and love for cycling, he continues to embrace the freedom, challenge, and joy that the road offers. This portrait celebrates his courage, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to the sport he loves, showing how resilience can transform both pain and passion into a source of inspiration.
"David"
These images tell the story of David, a young Venezuelan who works from 4 to 8 a.m. and then opens his own business, El Spot, where he serves coffee and has modernized the traditional newspaper kiosk. More than just a place to grab a drink or a paper, El Spot has become a gathering point for families and friends, fostering connection, warmth, and daily encounters. This series of portraits celebrates David's dedication, entrepreneurship, and the way his passion transforms a simple space into a vibrant hub for the community.
"Time by the Water tells"
The story of a group of fishermen who spend hours by the sea, not just to catch fish, but as an excuse to share time, stories, and experiences with others who share the same passion. Through their patience, camaraderie, and shared ritual, fishing becomes a way to connect, reflect, and nurture friendships. This portrait celebrates the simple yet profound moments of human connection found in shared hobbies and the quiet joy of being together.
